Glendale Gargoyle

This handsome Gargoyle is situated at my front door step, he is actually one of several on my porch.  Occasionally a visitor will tell me he looks evil but nothing could be further from the truth.  Gargoyles are considered "protectors" and they come in different forms, most commonly a lion.  They can be found on architecture all over the world including the top of the Chrysler Building in New York.

Below is a little poem about Gargoyles that should help you understand why someone might have one at their front door.

Magnificent creatures, so unique and strong
They protect the innocent from those who do wrong
They sleep by day with flesh of stone
By night they awake with skin and bone
They protect humans which live in their land
Which prospers well with their loyal hand
When humans need guidance with their troubles and toils
The creatures come and help them, they are called the gargoyles
