Cinco de MAyo

The other day a friend, (who's Mexican like me) asked me if I knew why we celebrated Cinco de Mayo, THE NERVE!!  Here is a little something for those of you who simply think Cinco de Mayo is a good excuse to drink margaritas and eat Mexican food:

Cinco de Mayo (May 5) commemorates the Mexican army's victory over French forces in 1862. Since then, it has become a day tocelebrate Mexican culture across the United States, but only in someparts of Mexico.

Where it all began: The city of Puebla is the epicenter of Mexico's Cinco de Mayo festivities.

Not to be confused with: The Mexican Independence Day, which takes place on Sept. 16 and celebrates Mexico's independence from Spain.

Oh, and if you are looking for a great place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo I recommend the Gardens of Taxco in West Hollywood, they have the best margarita's around!
