Drought tolerant landscape
My bulldog assistant and I stroll the neighborhood every day. We have noticed a huge trend in drought tolerant landscape in the 91201. Contrary to what most people think, this type of landscape can often be more maintenance than your typical landscape with just lawn and shrubs however, with current municipal water restrictions, more and more homeowners are making the change. Here are a few things you should know before you decided to do so:
I would recommend that you talk to an expert at one of the local Garden Centers or do some research on the internet before getting started. Below is one Bogart's favorite yards in the neighborhood.

- Before planting anything you will need to install the appropriate irrigation, typically a drip system.
- You will want to educate yourself on drought tolerant plants because they typically cost more than your average annual or perennial plant and it is important that you know what plants will thrive in your yard.
- You will also need to choose a ground cover such as bark or decomposed granite which has become quite popular recently.
