What's in a name?
A couple of weeks ago I told my client's about a house on Lamer Street in Burbank. They made a funny comment about the name of the street and it's association with the word "lame".
Believe it or not the name of a street is important to a lot of my clients. Streets like Cumberland Road and Mountain tend to be thought of as prestigious because of the neighborhoods that they are in. But there are a few streets that just flat out have an ugly name for example Willard or Zook.
I grew up on the 1400 block of Virginia Avenue and the house on the south west corner of Virginia and Kenneth used to have a mailing address on Virginia but the owners had it changed to Kenneth Road thinking that it was more prestigious. The funny thing is that the house on the north west corner of Virginia and Kenneth clearly faces Kenneth Road but was recently marketed with a Virginia Avenue address with a disclaimer that the home also has a Kenneth Road address.
But when you think of it, what's really in a name anyway?
