All Saints Day

All Saints Day is marked by a plethora of intriguing customs amongst Mexicans.  It is a day that we remember and honor our deceased loved ones.  Traditionally, my family goes to the San Fernando Mission Cemetary and decorates the graves of our deceased friends and family members with offerings of food and things that the person enjoyed in life. The belief behind All Saints Day is that spirits return to earth for one day of the year to be with their families.

Sunday November 1st is All Saints Day, the day to celebrate the spirits of babies and children (angelitos, little angels) who have died.  Monday is All Souls Day in which we celebrate the spirits of adults.

Feliz dia de los muertos!
