Loyalty

Last week I got a call from a woman saying that she wanted to interview me to be her Real Estate Agent.  Now most agents would assume that she was a potential seller.  However this person wanted to see if I met her needs as a buyer's agent not a listing agent.  This is not the first time I have been interviewed by a buyer.  Some agent's might find this a bit strange but such is not the case for this Realtor, in fact I encourage it because it makes my life so much easier!   If you think about it, buying a home is a huge decision and a big investment.  Buyers should feel confident with who they are working with.

I realize that today's buyer's like to search the net and visit open houses on their own.  But if they have committed to working with me and I have committed to diligently looking for a house for them, I will ask that they sign a Buyer's Broker Agreement.  I will also ask that they make it clear to other agents when they are visiting open houses, that they are working with me .  Most seasoned agents will ask if you are working with an agent when you visit an open house.  This isn't because we don't want to waste our time on you it is because we don't want to step on another Realtors toes.  It's not ethical for Realtors to try to sway a buyer to work with them, if they are already working with someone else.  If an agent tells you that you will get a better deal on their listing if you work with them instead of your agent then you are clearly dealing with an unethical agent.  Do you really want this person to be the one that guides you through one of the biggest decisions of your life?!

All I ask is that if you expect me to be loyal to you and work hard to find you a home, that you have the same loyalty to me as well!
