Curb Appeal

Did you know that the majority of buyers base their decision as to whether or not they want to buy your home before they even get out of the car?  I can't tell you how many times I have previewed a home for a buyer and had to tell them to look past things like, old paint or an overgrown yard just to get them inside.

Curb appeal is a buyer's first impression of your home, and you only have one chance at making a good impression!  Here are some tips on creating curb appeal:

  • Go green!  There's nothing worse than a dried up lawn with weeds.  Toss some fertilizer on the lawn and water throughly.  Be sure to edge walkways and sidewalks and mow neatly in a diagonal pattern if possible.
  • Add a splash of color!  You can purchase a six pack of annuals for under $2.00 at Lowes, so pick up a few six packs of your favorite colors and plant away.  Some nice color bowls at the steps and front door are always a nice touch!
  • Let the sunshine in!  Wash those windows and screens.  Sweep the cobwebs and dust off of the window cills.  Make those windows shine!
  • Add a few final touches!  A nice mailbox, a pretty wreath on the front door, a nice bench with cushions on the porch, some statuary, a new doormat, new street numbers and last but not least a new light fixture.

By spending just a $200 or less you will drastically improve the value of your home!

Hi Chris, as you know, I walk by your house all the time. It's nice to know you practice what you preach!
