The biggest house in Glendale
Remember this house? I certainly do! In 1996 our city was rocked by scandal when area residents alleged that the builder, a former member of Glendale's Board of Zoning, was able to get special favors from city officials. The residents claimed, the builder was able to build a 13,000+ square foot home, when he only had a building permit for 8,000 square feet.
At the time Glendale homeowners had to adhere to Glendale's Design Review Board's strict codes for any little change they wanted to make at their home. The builder claimed to have been granted permission to build the 13,000+ square foot home. But an investigator hired by the city in 1997 agreed with the residents that there was indeed a double standard.
Thirteen years later the home is currently listed for $3,400,000 (a price of 232.48 a square foot, such a deal!
) after having been listed with several realtor's over the years for as high as $7,915,000! According to the current listing agent the, home has been vacant since 1998!
