Back To Basics
This evening I went out for sushi with a friend. We got to our favorite place expecting our normal wait time however, when we arrived the place was practically empty! Wow how could this be? This place is ALWAYS crowded on Thursdays! And then I realized that I didn't have to stand in line this morning when I went to Starbucks. Could it be that people are actually tightening their belts?? I certainly hope so! Call me "Old School" but I am grateful to my parents for teaching me to live within my means. I hope that I have accomplished the same thing with my son, I will soon find out as he is graduating from college next week! I am not old school, I am just old!! But seriously I am amazed at the number of people who make good money but have no savings in the bank. Suze Orman (my hero) says we should at least have enough money to cover 6 months worth of expenses in the bank, sounds good to me. Think about it would you rather look cool walking into your office with a Starbucks cup in your hand every morning or be able to sleep at night knowing you have a little next egg for that rainy day? For those of you who say STARBUCKS, I say buy one of Suze's books, I suggest "Young Fabulous and Broke"
