Growing Up In Glendale

I remember when my friends and I would ride our bikes to the Kenneth Village and buy candy at Duncan’s five and dime. In fact we pretty much rode our bikes all over town! Back then you knew everybody and everybody knew you. My family frequented places like Tip Top Meat Market and Crawford’s grocery store. One of my favorite things to do with my family was to go see a matinee at the Alex Theater and have lunch at the Hollander Cafeteria, they had the best chocolate pudding ever!

Chris, I walked to Nick's Market (now long gone, I think on the corner of Howard and Glenoaks), I was only six and allowed to walk there with my friends - what a different world! Tip Top Meets - they had the best sandwiches ever - I still miss them, I remember the butchers - there were a lot of them!

Kenneth Road Village? I grew up right near there. It always reminded me of a little Alpine retreat. I used to go there as a young boy and they had a great bakery that I can't remember the name of. Do you know the place? I'm a grandfather now so I tend to forget these things. Kenneth Road Village is still just how I remember it being back in the late 60's.
Thank you for stirring up my favorite memories. By the way, what was the name of that bakery anyway?
